#LibrariesDeterminedDemocratic How do we want to live together? Democracy is our foundation. How can we keep it stable and attractive to many? Democracy education, our culture of debate, disinformation and social cohesion are increasingly coming into focus.
Libraries are important players here. They don't stand for one opinion, they stand for diversity of opinions. They don't tell the truth, they provide information. They don't exclude, they invite. Our society is in a transformation process. The library institution also helps shape these processes. We respond to the rapid changes in our “core business”, the provision of media, data and information, with innovative strength and openness. We face social change. Whether in teaching and research, in reading promotion and media education, on the university campus or in the community: libraries, polyphonic in their nature, stand for democratic coexistence and social freedom that thinks for others.
The congress thrives on the many participants from home and abroad. What topics libraries are concerned with, what questions they ask themselves and what answers they find - we will discuss this together at the library congress.
